Don’t count on the cascade

By Dan Hammond, Chief Disruption Officer, LIW

I had the great fortune to visit the offices of what3words this week. Their app became the most downloaded over the summer and the technology is set to transform the lives of people who don’t have a street address and many others.

One of the things that they talked about was how they use open communications including ‘all hands’ meetings to communicate with everyone at the same time.

It made me reflect again on the old way of communicating with the top team and expecting a perfect cascade of information. Very little seeped through the layers to reach the front line and what did was often contaminated!

What does this mean for leadership?

How can you use technology to broadcast to – and hear feedback from – your whole organisation?
