Two bottles of Malbec and a handwritten note

How do you help a new team member feel warm and fuzzy about joining your team and set expectations for the rollercoaster ride ahead?

We know of one lucky new recruit who took delivery of two bottles of Malbec and a handwritten note a couple of days before starting his new job. We loved the personal touch: from the line manager putting pen to paper himself, helpfully suggesting the recruit enjoy the calm before the storm to the manager who clearly took a lot of pleasure in choosing the wine. This was no automated, tick box exercise.

Crucially it was backed up with a smooth induction process. Swipe card, laptop, and charger – all the kit ready, available, and working from day one.

If fostering a sense of belonging is a priority in your team, maybe think about how you can help people feel part of the team from the get-go. It doesn’t have to involve red wine, but you never know, it might help.

If you want to chat about your team and find new ways to foster a sense of belonging, contact us. We’re always happy to chat.
