The friends you keep

By Pia Lee, CEO, LIW

Steve Maraboli said “If you hang out with chickens, you’re going to cluck and if you hang out with eagles, you’re going to fly.”

This week has seen a lot of feathers flying.

Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, called his boss a “racist,” “con man”, and a “cheat”. Meanwhile Trump ‘fell in love’ with North Korea’s leader.  Finally, convicted paedophile Cardinal George Pell was still deemed a “friend” by former PM Tony Abbott and “a person of both high intelligence and exemplary character” by former PM John Howard.

Questionable judgment at best. And a lot of clucking.

What does this mean for leadership?

Your brand is impacted not only by your actions but by those you show allegiance to.

A reminder to hold true to your values, not to the position or power of your friend.
