It’s a game of two halves now with Europe and the US beginning to open up post-pandemic, while our friends in Australia are heading in to lockdown… There’s more thinking about the new normal for workers, and a return to a focus on leadership and learning which is welcome.

McKinsey reissues its research on top teams suggesting a refocus on the team in general and the role of the top team in particular in setting cultural norms for teamwork. Research suggests employers and employees are aligned in their view of good leadership –  it’s about building strong relationships and empowering others – simples

Post-covid return to work still exercises minds with most employers offering flexibility and only the financial sector doggedly determined to return to the old ways of full-time office-based work. This isn’t the only change for employees, now 41% fear for their job because they expect technology to replace them.

CLO platform reports a change in performance management is needed to be more forward looking rather than retrospective. And Kallidus learner survey suggests 2/3 workers are pursuing self-driven learning to develop technical and interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Finally, if you’re fed up of zoom calls, try holograms – several leading tech companies are investing in this technology to improve connection in virtual settings.
