POTUS v The Squad

By Pia Lee, CEO, LIW

‘The Squad’ made its presence known on a world stage this week with grace, poise and strength.

US Democratic Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib responded to a, at best ‘distracting’ and at worst ‘racist’, series of tweets from a sabre-rattling Trump.

As the world’s reaction oscillated from denial to abhorrence, ‘The Squad’ realised that the magnitude of the issues were way beyond political wrestling, twitter rants or power trips.

It’s simple. “Our squad includes any person committed to building a more equitable and just world … the eyes of history are watching us”.

What does this mean for leadership?

Squads are individuals who come together to achieve things for good – great or small. They have belief, a plan, ways of communicating and steely courage of their convictions.

Who’s in your squad?
