Misery loves company

By guest contributor Dan Hammond, CPO of Squadify

My daughters are revising at home. In the kitchen. Which is great. No really, it’s fine.

Anyway, the discovery I made from them this week is Study Stream. This site allows you to join a Zoom call that includes hundreds of other people and you study together. You don’t talk (you are muted) but you can see each other.

It’s actually very sweet. My daughters say that they get the feeling of community and it takes away the drudgery of working alone and helps them focus. ‘It’s like going to the library’.

What does this mean for leadership?

What imaginative ways can we find to have our teams work together, even if they are working separately?

Changing a ‘meeting’ into a ‘doing’ where people work in silence – together – could actually be worth a try!
