Laying the foundations for success

Leading and developing your team, moving them from average to high performing, making sure individuals are thriving. It’s quite a challenge, isn’t it? So where do you start?

It’s a good question and it’s one of the reasons we love the simplicity of the three Cs:

  • Clarity: does your team understand what’s happening and what’s expected of them – individually and collectively? Have you put the team’s priorities and goals into context?
  • Climate: Has there been a strategic shift thanks to Covid or other pressures? Are there budget and headcount challenges ahead? Has the way we work together as a team changed? Does it need to? What’s happening culturally?
  • Competence: are there any skills gaps and training opportunities the team needs or wants? And are we displaying the behaviours that will set us up for success?

When the working landscape is shifting it’s sometimes easier to focus on the day-to-day. But we recommend taking time to make sure your foundations are in place and as strong as possible.

You can read more about how to create the right conditions for team success in our Purple Paper ‘A team centred approach to organisational performance’ but if all you do is remember the three Cs, you’ll already be on the right path. Or contact us and arrange to have a chat about how we can help you and your team.
