How are you? Three little words that can quickly open up a conversation and show you really are interested in the other person.

Being stuck for words is something that hits most of us from time to time, especially when it feels like you’re about to have another loaded conversation.

The beauty of these words is that they work whether you’re having a quick check in at the beginning of a team meeting or as an opener in a longer one to one.

So, don’t let your assumptions colour how you think your team is doing. Keep it simple and just ask them: ‘How are you?’.
