Faking it

By Dan Hammond, Chief Disruption Officer, LIW

CNN this week reported on the rise of the fake commute. People are building rides, walks and runs into their daily routines and are gaining mental and physical heath benefits. A friend of mine is doing and he is annoyingly fit.

It’s such a simple idea – to keep up some routines and also some exercise that used to keep us healthy and that gave us a natural pause in our days.

What does this mean for leadership?

What other things can we fake in lockdown?

It is tempting to fake international travel like these people. You could sleep on a tiny chair next to your bathroom and then, sleep-deprived, go straight into a series of crucial meetings. Not recommended.

Routine is a proven contributor to mental health. How can we help our teams to fake it?
