Do you speak Danglish?

By Dan Hammond, Chief Disruption Officer, LIW

Data from our lovely new product for teams – or ‘squads’ as we call them – tells us that the teams cannot ‘talk straight to each other without anyone taking offence’. It’s the lowest rated condition.

This means that many squads are not able to say what needs to be said – a crucial part of improving performance – without either causing offence or having offence taken.

Here at LIW, with a half-Danish CEO, we have learned to speak Danglish – half Danish, half English. The Danes are notorious straight talkers (and they take straight talk too) so this new language helps us to ‘cut to the chase’.

What does this mean for leadership?

Encourage and develop the skills of straight talking and open listening in your squad. Becoming fluent in Danglish could be just what you need!
