A generation disrupted

By Pia Lee, CEO, LIW

We work hard to make it better for the next generation, right? Actually, wrong, according to the Deloitte Global Millennial Survey. Our youngest employees are feeling a heavy cost of societal discord, technological transformation and economic insecurity. In fact, 49% of millennials would quit their jobs in the next two years.

What does this mean for leadership?

People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. What questions do you ask your millennials? Are they attracted to making a positive impact in their communities or society (46 percent)? What trust do they have in leadership and what’s important to them about your organisation’s ethical behaviour?

Getting curious rather than passing judgement is key to capturing the young’s hearts and minds. An important leadership act for a brighter future.
