28 years later

By Dan Hammond, Chief Disruption Officer, LIW

Last week, we told the tale of the naïve student writing this article in 1992, finding it 28 years later and realising that things had gone backwards. Today, we try to learn something from it.

What does this mean for leadership?

The current crisis offers an opportunity to change things for the better but how do we avoid the mistakes of the past?

Yes, there are forces acting against change. It suits the incumbents to keep things the way they are.

But there is a way to start a movement: it starts with self. I, for one, did not do enough: I chose job security over ‘being the change I wanted to see in the world’.

But it’s not too late to take action. What will you do to make the next 28 years a little better?
