2020’s Retro

By Pia Lee, CEO, LIW

A client lamented that it felt like they were commando-rolling across the last weeks until Christmas. 2020 has thrown us enough curve balls to last a couple of decades. Our adversity, resilience, patience and humour have been tested and stretched at every turn. All the while, managing three potential archetypes in lockdown – hunk, chunk or drunk!

What does this mean for leadership?

Fatigue creates tunnel vision, where we narrow-down on anticipated relief, often for it to only dissipate into a disappointing mirage. Whilst regeneration and rest are key ingredients to creating success in 2021 – so is another ‘r’ – the retrospective.

If you haven’t sucked the learning juice from this year, it might all be a wasted experience. So try asking; what went well, what didn’t, what did we learn and what will we do differently?

Rebirth 2021, consciously.
